Impressive, we still have 509 teams who cracked Challenge 5B correctly - it might be hard to pick the winner of the overall challenge this year, though challenges 7 and 8 will be considerably harder and you probably need to start doing some research. It will be interesting to see how you get on with Challenge 6!

Congratulations to everyone who is still with us. Challenge 2 was a little trickier, but many of you managed it and several remarked that they though 2A was harder than 2B. Let's see how you get on with Challenge 3! The rounds will start to get a bit more interesting as time goes on, as from this stage the scores really count. Challenge 1 and Challenge 2 were just a warm up, but your overall score in the competition leader boards will be based on the scores you get for 3B, 4B, 5B, 6B, 7B and 8B.

Finally we have some exciting news about a prize for schools. Our sponsors Winton Capital Management are underwriting an award of £1,000 to support Mathematics extension activites. The whole spirit of the National Cipher Challenge is about grpping the imagination, so show us what you can do and have a go at winning this award. The winners will be invited to the Prizegiving at Bletchley Park on March 7th, More details to follow.
