Winners of the prizes for Challenge 1A

Congratulations to you all, you are doing very well. We can now announce the winners of Challenge 1A prizes. Each of the following teams has been awarded £25 which will be sent as a cheque. Two additional winning teams have not yet responded to our emails, those are the multicolour crocodile shorts from Broad Oak, and the Twilight Fan Club from Teign School, if you can get back to us we will make sure to process your prize too. It can take forever and a day for these cheques to arrive so do try to be patient, but let me know if you haven't heard anything from us. In the meantime, download and print your certificates using the link on the Feedback page and enjoy a feeling of a job well done! Prizes for Challenge 1A

Reilloch, Seaofbitterness, Famouswarrior, mysteriousguest43, LordGaffersMBE, Rorarama, and Ella from Woodbridge School

Andrew Stuart from Strode College

A team from from Haydon School (you know who you are!)

Rach1, Rach2 and Ope from Tonbridge Grammar School

James Leese and Peter Hunt from King Edward VI Aston School

A team from Bolton School Girls' Division (again, you know who you are).

Winners for Challenge 2A will be announced here at the end of Challenge 3, but you will hear before then if you have been selected.

Have a great half term break,

Harry

Prizes

Well done everyone, two challenges in and the enthusiasm is palpable! You are wondering, I am sure, who won a prize for Challenge 1A or Challenge 2A. we plan to reveal the winners for the Challenge 1A prizes tomorrow when we hear from them all - you know who you are so get in touch if you haven't already! We will reveal the lucky winners for Challenge 2A a week on Friday. We will be emailing them over the next few days to confirm their eligibility. Anyway Challenge 3 is up and I am sure you have better things to be doing - go get it. Harry

Schedule for the Challenges

Huge apologies to anyone confused about the changes this weekend to the published dates for the challenges. We noticed rather late in the day that the dates appearing in some places on the site differed from those published in the Teacher's Pack and it was the Teachers' Pack that was correct. Thanks to those of you who pointed out that the rules page showed a challenge being published in the middle of half term, and that the last challenge was apparently going to be published during the Christmas vacation. The correct dates are as follows
Cipher Publication
Date
Deadline
23.59 on
1   7th October   13th October
2   14th October   20th October
3   21st October   3rd November
4   4th November   10th November
5   11th November   17th November
6   18th November   1st December
7   2nd December   15th December
8   16th December   5th January
Notice that Challenge 3 lasts two weeks because of half term, and if you look at the points schedule for Challenge 3 (on the Challenge 3 page) you will see that the points are frozen throughout that week. I am really sorry for the confusion, mea culpa. Harry

Contact number

There is a new contact number for queries concerning the competition. It is best to contact us via email, but if your query is urgent please call 023 8059 5155. Thanks, Harry

And we're off!

The Challenge started 7 minutes ago and thousands of you are working away at the first ciphers as I type this. Taking a look at the map we have people from all over the UK, from the Middle East, Europe, the Far East and America all taking part (no prizes for overseas competitors though I am afraid). The forum has been buzzing for the last couple of weeks, so dive in and have fun. I look forward to getting to know you all over the next few months. All the best, Harry
